Anantapur: An older brother hacked his younger sibling with an axe over a mobile at Kanakur village in Settur mandal of Anantapur district.
According to police, blood brothers Ravi Kumar and Krishna Murthy shared the same house in Kanakur village.
Krishna Murthy took his elder brother’s mobile phone without taking permission and came to Anantapur on Wednesday. When he returned home, Ravi Kumar asked Krishna Murthy about the phone.
The latter bluffed saying he had no idea and kept the phone he was carrying in the house. On noticing the mobile phone, Ravi Kumar again questioned his younger brother, which led to a heated argument.
Angry over the incident, Ravi Kumar hacked his younger brother with an axe when he was sleeping on Thursday night. Krishna Murthy died on the spot.
Soon after killing his brother, Ravi Kumar surrendered before the Settur police, confessing to his crime.
Settur police arrested Ravi Kumar on Friday and shifted the body of Krishna Murthy to Kalyanadurgam hospital for post-mortem.
