Police failed to act quickly, claims family

HYDERABAD: Dr M. Vaishali Reddy’s family claimed that the police did not respond quickly when they called them during the kidnapping and that no action was taken despite previous complaints against the accused, Kodudula Naveen Reddy.

They claimed that they had complained to the She Teams about Naveen Reddy, and that he was counselled and let off. M. Damodar Reddy, Dr Vaishali’s father, claimed that the police favoured the accused.

"The dial 100 call on Friday went unanswered for more than 30 minutes, and the Adibatla police were aware of the harassment we were subjected to from Naveen Reddy. We had also complained to the She Teams about his social media harassment, but he was given counselling and a warning. This would not have happened if the police had taken our complaints seriously," the family said.

Meanwhile, her relatives revealed that Naveen Reddy bought a car and named Vaishali as the spouse in the nominee column. "He went to court with that document and a petition, claiming that we are preventing him from meeting his wife and interfering with their marriage. He had planned such stunts in the past, and with a branch of his franchise in front of our house, he has been keeping an eye on the goings-on here," her relatives revealed.
