Hyderabad: Woman charged for bid to kill daughter
Hyderabad: The SR Nagar police, who are investigating the torture case of a four-year-old girl by her mother and her live-in partner, found that the woman had attempted to kill her child and the case has been altered to attempt to murder on Friday.
“Initially, we booked a case under Section 324 (voluntarily causing hurt by dangerous weapons) of the IPC and as the investigations concluded, we changed it to Section 307 (attempt to murder) and remanded the couple,” said the police. The four-year-old girl was allegedly made to sit on a hot fry pan by her mother and her live-in partner to get rid of her at SR Nagar.
The shocking incident came to light on Sunday when the couple took the four-year-old girl to Bharosa centre, stating that the girl is an orphan and that they found her at a railway station with the injuries.
“The couple approached the Bharosa centre in Nampally and told officials that they had thought of adopting her but she is unwilling,” said Mohammed Waheeduddin, inspector of SR Nagar.
However, the officials grilled the woman and she confessed that it was her daughter and also that they had decided to get rid of her.
“The girl was shifted to a private hospital in Ameerpet to undergo treatment and was later shifted to Shishu Vihar,” added the inspector.
