BHUBANESWAR: The Odisha police on Thursday got a brutally sexually assaulted young woman in SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack. The girl was rescued in critical conditions from a dense forest in Dhenkanal district on Wednesday night.
Reports said the girl was dumped in the forest by his boyfriend after being raped, severely beaten up and strangulated by the accused.
The accused Sibasish Mohanty who was arrested on Thursday dumped the girl in the forest thinking that she had died after strangulation.
According to reports, on being informed by the local people, the police rescued the 19-year-old girl in critical conditions from the forest near Dhenkanal bypass road.
Although the girl was lying unconscious in the forest for three days after the bid on her life by the accused, she was miraculously not attacked by wild animals.
After she regained consciousness, the girl narrated her harrowing story to the police and media persons.
