Hyderabad: Gang of 8 cash robbers held
Hyderabad: An eight member-gang that robbed a businessman who offered to exchange old currency for new currency worth Rs 58 lakh, was arrested by South Zone Police on Thursday.
Police said the suspects assumed that the victim will not lodge a complaint as it was black money. The arrested persons were identified as K Arun Kumar Mudiraj, A Saishankar, A Manohar Yadav, B Suresh, S Naveen Yadav, G Srikanth and Kalyan.
DCP South Zone, Mr V Satyanarayana said that Arun who is the kingpin in the case got specific information that the victim Divesh Agarwal was exchanging old currency for commission and hatched a plan to loot him under the guise of exchanging old currency.
He, along with Sudhakar and Saishankar, formed a gang for the task. Arun who identified a place behind GHMC playground in HB colony in Bahadurpura recced the area. Except Sudhakar all the other members waited near the location for Divesh who was coming with new currency.
Divesh arrived at the location with new Rs 2000 and Rs 100 currency worth Rs 58 lakh. Arun met him. After verifying the amount, Arun left the place saying he will return with old currency for exchange. After getting a go ahead from Arun, other members who were waiting near the place attacked Divesh and threatened him. They took two bags of cash from him and fled the spot.
