Aroor police intensifies drug trafficking probe

Sharon was Gagi's agent and the duo's target was tourists, who bought powerful prosthetic drugs.

ALAPPUZHA: Aroor police has intensified the investigation into the interstate drug trafficking case following the arrest of a Pune native from Goa the other day. Sub-inspector T.S. Raneesh said there would be more arrests in connection with the case based on information received from the accused.

Yogesh Yashwant Gagi, 37, was arrested on Goa beach by the Aroor police on Tuesday after the arrest of Sharon, a BBA student at Ernakulam the other day. According to the police, Sharon was Gagi’s agent and the duo’s target was tourists, who bought powerful prosthetic drugs. The accused was running a restaurant on the Goa beach, police said.

Sharon was arrested with banned 50 LSD stamps following a tip-off Aroor anti-narcotic cell received last week and the police got information on Gagi from his mobile phone. They were running business jointly with the support of social networking sites. They knew each other and Sharon made a trip to Goa recently. Subsequently, they established rapport and Gagi was using Sharon to sell stuff in Kerala.

“Gagi was living with a foreign woman in his house located in a place where Russian migrants largely reside. We suspect more links in this racket," he said. Judicial First Class Magistrate Court, Cherthala, remanded Gagi in custody.
