Vizag Cops Crack Down, Target Gangs

Visakhapatnam: The Visakhapatnam city police have held a series of raids on Wednesday as part of its effort to ensure law and order.

The raids targeted gangs engaged in illegal activities, including sand smuggling, liquor rule violations, NDPS cases, illegal gaming like poker, chicken betting, town nuisance cases under the Town Nuisance Act, and “unsocial” activities like drinking in public places.

Police said that a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act in an area under the IV Town police station. One person was arrested and 4 kg of ganja seized.
Two separate cases were registered under the gaming act. Under the Padmanabham police station jurisd-iction, seven individuals were arrested and cash of Rs 1,98,260 seized.

A case was registered under the Gaming Act under the PM Palem police station area, resulting in the arrest of six persons and seizure of Rs 1,01,500.

Police officials registered nuisance cases against 15 persons. Cases were also filed against 32 persons for consumption of alcohol in public places and causing disturbance to public peace.

Additionally, police registered 82 cases of “drink-drive” and 3,738 cases of violations of other motor vehicle rules were registered.
