Hyderabad: A drunk person allegedly beat his two-year-old boy to death at his residence in Neredmet in an altercation with his wife over money.
The accused, K. Sudhakar, 28, was unemployed and the family lived on his wife Divya’s earnings from her work as a security.
“Sudhakar and Divya were in love and married in 2019, following which they had a son, Jeevan Kumar. Sudhakar became addicted to alcohol and often quarrelled with his wife about money to buy alcohol,” Neredmet police inspector A. Narasimha said.
According to the police, Divya was leaving for work on Tuesday morning when Sudhakar asked her for money. But, she refused and left.
Meanwhile, Jeevan started to cry, when Sudhakar slapped him and pushed him to the ground in a fit of rage. “The boy sustained a grave injury to the head due to which he died,” Narasimha said.
On a complaint from Divya, Sudhakar was booked under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC and arrested.
