Speeding kills 2 youth in Hyderabad

Reckless driving caused the accidents.

Hyderabad: Two youngsters were killed in separate road accidents at Gachibowli and Chaitanyapuri during the wee hours of Thursday. Death was instant for both the youngster, while four three others survived injuries.

At Gachibowli, a 24-year-old Animation designer died and his friend suffered injuries when the speeding car they were travelling rammed into a divider and turned turtle.

Gachibowli sub-inspector P. Dharmesh said that Sangyapu Shiva Kumar, 24, a native of Nampa village in Karimnagar was working as an animation designer. He was living in Amar Sai PG Men’s Hostel. On Thursday at about 2.45 am, Shiva Kumar and his hostel mate went to Raghavendra Colony in Kondapur to drop a common friend.

“While returning via Kondapur, Shiva Kumar, who was behind the wheels started speeding and in a bid to overtake a lorry, lost control of the vehicle and hit the divider at Kondapur RTO office,” said the SI.

“Due to the impact, the car turned turtle on the road. Death was instant for Shiva Kumar as the car had a huge impact to the right side, while his friend escaped with minor injuries.

Based on his friend’s complaint, a case has been registered under Section 304 A of IPC, and an investigation has been taken up,” said SI Dharmesh. In the Chaitanyapuri accident, Mahesh, 20, and his friends Nithin and Venkatesh were returning home on a bike during the early hours of Thursday, when an auto rammed them from the rear at Mohannagar.

The youngsters were thrown at a distance and Mahesh died on the spot while his friends received severe injuries, said Chaitanyapuri police.

The injured have been admitted to a nearby private hospital for treatment, while the body of Mahesh was handed over to his family after an autopsy at Osmania General Hospital.
