Telangana: Rs 1 lakh reward for leads on serial chain-snatcher

The Cyberabad police has announced Rs 1 lakh cash reward for information on a chain-snatcher who is involved in 18 cases.

HYDERABAD: The Cyberabad police has announced Rs 1 lakh cash reward for information on a chain-snatcher who is involved in 18 cases in IT employees’ residential areas. According to Mr N. Bhujanga Rao, assistant commissioner of police, Kukatpally, the offender, suspected to be an Irani gang member, snatched gold chains weighing 500g from women. “The thug targets women at temples, schools and parks between 5 pm and 9 pm. Our team is making efforts to nab him. As part of it, we have announced a cash award,” Mr Rao said.

Eight women fell victim to him in Kukatpally Housing Board Colony, five in Miyapur and one in the Chandanagar area. “After committing the crime, he flees to Sangareddy district or Bidar,” said Mr Rao. The police has released the image of the suspect. He is reported to in his mid-twenties and rides a Bajaj Discover bike. The police is also banking on CCTV footage.
