Hyderabad: Enmity between siblings leaves 1 dead

According to the Miyapur police, the brothers sold their house in an auction for Rs 15 lakh and took Rs 4 lakh as advance.

Hyderabad: The money which two brothers got by selling their ancestral property led to enmity between them and claimed the life of one of them.

The Miyapur police have identified the brothers as P. Ramdas, 40, now dead, and P. Ravindhar, 22, the accused.

According to the Miyapur police, the brothers sold their house in an auction for Rs 15 lakh and took Rs 4 lakh as advance. Ramdas was an alcoholic and used to quarrel with his wife following which she went to her maternal house along with her kids. Ramdas came to stay in his parents’ house where the accused brother, Ravindhar, also stayed and started quarrelling with his family members demanding the money which they got on the sale of their house.

Inspector of police, Miyapur police station S. Venkatesh said, “On Sunday morning also Ramdas warned that the money should be arranged or there would be dire consequences. He even threatened to kill them. This led to Ravindhar deciding to eliminate his brother and with the help of his friend Sai, 21, he hatched a plan.”

When Ramdas was sleeping at his house on Sunday night, Ravindhar and Sai slit the victim’s throat with a knife. Ravindhar then surrendered to the Miyapur police.

The police have registered a case under Section 302 of IPC and apprehended Sai and sent them to judicial custody. The police have handed over the body to the family after a post-mortem examination at Gandhi Hospital.
