Bengaluru: Fish merchant robbed of Rs 2.8 lakh

He was on his way home carrying Rs 2.80 lakh cash in a bag.

Bengaluru: A fish merchant on way to his house on a bike was waylaid by two bike-borne men and robbed of cash late on Sunday night. The incident took place at BRV Junction in Cubbon Park police limits and the victim, Prabhu, is from Tamil Nadu. He was on his way home carrying Rs 2.80 lakh cash in a bag. When he reached BRV Junction, the two robbers waylaid his bike and stabbed Prabhu before escaping with the cash bag. Passerby who spotted Prabhu writhing in pain rushed him to a hospital. The Cubbon Park police are examining the CCTV footage from nearby spots. Prabhu, who supplies fish to sellers in Bengaluru, came to the city on Sunday to collect money. The police suspect that the robbers knew that Prabhu had a bag full of cash. In a similar incident, a bike-borne man was robbed of a gold chain by three men who came on a bike and waylaid him. The victim, Praveen, a resident of Kalidasa Nagar in Kengeri, was heading home after finishing work when the incident occurred. Praveen reached Mallasandra near BDA Layout when the three men stopped his bike and threatened him with machete. As he had no cash, the robbers took away his gold chain and mobile phone.
