Hyderabad: Men on bike flee away with Rs 7 lakh

According to the police, the accused encountered Siddu Singh the victim when he was on his way back from his boss's house in Basheerbagh.

Hyderabad: Two men riding a bike snatched a bag containing Rs 7 lakh in cash from a man and fled. The incident occurred within the limits of Mailardevpally police station. The attempted robbery was foiled when locals managed to nab them and hand them over to the cops.

According to the police, the accused encountered Siddu Singh, the victim, when he was on his way back from his boss’s house in Basheerbagh.

“They snatched a bag, which contained Rs 7 lakh, from him near the Palladium function hall and sped away with it. Siddu Singh followed them on his bike, but the pillion rider brandished a knife and threatened to kill him if he continued following them,” said P. Jagadeeshwar, the Inspector of Mailardevpally.

According to sources, locals in the area managed to catch hold of the accused and raise an alarm before thrashing them and handing them over to the police.

However, the Mailardevpally police say that the accused are still at large.

A case has been registered under Section 382 of the IPC, for theft after preparation made for causing death, hurt or restraint in order to the committing of theft, based on a complaint filed by Siddu Singh.
