Bombing Accused Flees Police Custody in Odisha

BHUBANESWAR: An accused on Saturday allegedly fled from Athagarh police station in Odisha’s Cuttack district.

As per reports, the accused identified as Biranchi Mantri was arrested by the Athagarh police late Friday night for his alleged involvement in a bombing incident at Amrutamanohi Patna village on August 9.

However, Mantri managed to flee from police custody due to the alleged carelessness of Athagarh cops.

The police launched a manhunt to nab the accused.

“An investigation into the incident has been launched. We are verifying under which circumstances the accused managed to escape from the police custody,” said Athagarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Rabindranath Mallick.

“After completion of the investigation, more information in this regard could be divulged. Stern action will be taken against those found guilty,” said Mallick.
