BENGALURU: A 51-year-old security guard was held under POCSO Act by the R. T. Nagar police after he was allegedly found molesting an eight year old girl on Thursday.
The accused has been identified as Shrinivas, a resident of Dinnur and an ex-serviceman. According to the police, the incident took place at an apartment on Dinnur Main Road, where the accused worked as a security guard.
A couple hailing from Nepal was also working in the same apartment as house keeping staff. The couple had reportedly brought their daughter along with them on Thursday. While their daughter was playing on the apartment premises, the couple was busy with work.
Around 11.30 am, the guard allegedly took the girl outside on the pretext of buying her fruits and allegedly touched her inappropriately. As the girl raised an alarm, a few passersby and her parents rushed to her rescue.
Sensing trouble, the guard tried to escape, but was caught and beaten up by the public. Police, who were alerted about the incident, rushed to the spot and took him to custody. Further investigations are on, the police added.
