Hyderabad: Frauds cheat man of Rs 71,600
Hyderabad: A former employee of the Nuclear Fuel Complex in the city lost Rs 71,600 to fraudsters after sharing details of his two debit cards and OTPs (one-time password) with the strangers, who had called him on the pretext of linking his debit cards with his Aadhar number, before they got blocked.
Two days ago, M. Ashok Kumar, 62, a former NFC employee living in Old Bowenpally received a phone call from a stranger claiming to be an SBI official dealing in ATM cards. The caller informed Kumar that his two debit cards with SBI would be blocked soon for not being linked with his Aadhar number.
The caller directed him to share the debit card details and then the OTPs received on his mobile phone via SMS. Soon after sharing the details, Kumar received two messages from the bank that an amount of about Rs 71,600 had been transferred to other bank accounts online.
Shocked, he went to the bank and checked only to find that he had been duped. He lodged a complaint with the Hyderabad Police cyber crime branch.
