As per the research, compiled by W. Robert Johnston, the abortion percentage rose to 13.8 per cent in 2014 from 12.6 per cent in 2008 in relation to total pregnancies.
Hyderabad: Vanasthalipuram police arrested Dr Ambula Girija Rani, who performed the abortion on engineering student M. Harika leading to her death, her boyfriend Sarangi Madhu and another woman, Kamavathi Sirisha, who mediated the deal between the couple and the hospital.
Dr Girija Rani, Madhu, who works as a photographer, and Sirisha, who works at a cloth store, have been arrested and sent to judicial remand. Earlier, they were booked under various sections of the IPC.
