4 ABVP activists held for damaging DPS buses
Hyderabad: Four Akhila Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) activists including the state secretary were arrested by the Ibrahimpatnam police for trespassing into Delhi Public School, Nadergul and damaging eight buses.
Rachakonda police said that the accused are under judicial remand in Cherlapally Central Prison and warned them to not resort to any violent activities at educational institutions.
ABVP, a student orgnisation had given a state-wide bandh call on June 20. Learning that the Delhi Public School campus located at Nadergul village was functioning on that day, a group of activists barged into the campus and created ruckus. The activists pelted stones and damaged eight buses.
The management complained to the Ibrahimpatnam police and a case was registered against the activists under Sections 452, 427, 147, 148 r/w 149 of IPC.
“During the probe, the police arrested Sathyanarayana Reddy, 19, a Champapet Narayana College ABVP President on the following day. Subsequently, Lakakula Ayyappa, 28, state secretary of ABVP and Kumbum Mahesh, 19, Kothapet town secretary of ABVP were arrested on July 6. The next day, A. Mahesh, 24, who is the Dilsukhnagar zonal in-charge of the orgnaisation was arrested and remanded,” said Ibrahimpatnam ACP S. Malla Reddy on Sunday.
“We do not tolerate violence or physical attacks on educational institutions in the name of protests. We have warned the activists not to resort to violent activities,” said the ACP.
