Shivaji Rathod demanded a bribe for changing the category of a power connection belonging to an IT firm.
A city-based engineering college has alleged that a Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) official had demanded a bribe of Rs 25 lakh for a positive' report. However, the official has denied the allegation and threatened to sue the college.
Hyderabad: TSPDCL superintendent engineer Shivaji Rathod was caught red handed by the ACB while accepting a bribe on Thursday. ACB officials said Shivaji Rathod demanded a bribe for changing the category of a power connection belonging to an IT firm.
Transdyne IT Services which had a power connection in the industry category, received a bill for Rs 5.99 lakh for May 2017. The firm found it was billed as per commercial rates. After realising they had been billed wrongly the PRO of Transdyne, S. Ramalingam approached Rathod. He demanded a bribe of Rs 1 lakh and later cut it to Rs 80,000. ACB caught Rathod while accepting the bribe at an eatery in Khairatabad.
