According to the police, the couple had reportedly fought hours before the woman resorted to killing herself.

Hyderabad: A 43-year-old woman from West Bengal who was reportedly in a relationship with a 28-year-old techie committed suicide in a lodge in Vanasthalipuram on Tuesday night.

According to the police, the couple had reportedly fought hours before the woman resorted to killing herself.

The woman, identified as Sangeetha (43), a native of Kolkata, had been working as a software engineer in Kolkata. She came across Lokesh (28), a software engineer from Punjab, about 2 months ago. Soon after, they fell in love. She has filed for a divorce in a court in Kolkata.

Lokesh and Sangeetha reached Hyderabad on May 5. They had booked a room in an Oyo lodge in Abhyudaya Nagar under Vanasthalipuram police limits. However, the couple ended up in a fight on Tuesday night.

Reportedly, Lokesh had even beaten her in the presence of his friend and a few other inmates of the lodge.

A mutual friend of the couple, who was also present there, managed to pacify the issue following which, he took Lokesh to Moinabad.

Hours after that, Sangeetha committed suicide by hanging herself off the ceiling in the lodge. This was discovered only after Lokesh returned to the lodge on Wednesday.

“The woman left a note stating she was not very happy with her life and further wished her sons a good life ahead,” said the Vanasthalipuram inspector A Venkataiah.

However, the guests of the lodge, who had witnessed Lokesh beating Sangeetha during the quarrel, have filed a complaint. A case under abetment to suicide has therefore been registered for the probe. The inspector said that the woman’s husband was reluctant to claim her body. Consequently, her parents and children were intimated and are expected to arrive on Thursday.
