Hyderabad: A 35-year-old carpenter was arrested for sexually assaulting a 14-year-old neighbour girl at Borabanda. The accused took the girl into a toilet in her home and tried to sexually assault her. However when she raised alarm, he fled the place.
Mild tension prevailed after the incident, when the accused, Lokesh, was beaten up by the girl’s brother. Mr Vijay Kumar, ACP Punjagutta, said that the victim was sent to Bharosa centre for counselling. Based on her statement, a case under relevant charges of the IPC and Pocso Act will be booked.
The victim is a resident of Hafeez Fathima Nagar in Borabanda under the SR nagar police station limits. She was studying in a residential school in AP and had come home for summer vacation.
The accused is married and has two children.
