Hyderabad: Speeding car kills special branch Sub Inspector

SI Kistaiah was returning from his morning walk.

Hyderabad: Sub inspector B. Kistaiah who was celebrating his wedding anniversary on Monday, was killed by a speeding car while he was returning home from his morning walk.

The SI was walking along Langer Houz Main Road when a speeding car approaching Langar Houz from Narsingi, hit a divider, took a sharp left turn and darted at the 56-year-old sub inspector. He was hit with such force that he was thrown on to a wall, then collided head-first with an electric pole and dropped dead.

B. Kistaiah was a sub inspector with the Special Branch of Central Zone and was scheduled to retire next year. He was staying at Babu Nagar with his wife and daughter, a final year B.Tech student. His son is abroad.

The mishap occurred on Monday near Tipukhan bridge when he was returning from his morning walk. “The car fled from the scene after killing the SI,” said Langar Houz inspector C. Anjaiah.

Police arrived at the scene with the Clues team and informed his family.“Passersby noticed the speeding car's number (AP 09 BR 2400). We are checking CCTV cameras to get details about the absconding car driver,” the inspector added.

The body of the sub inspector was immediately shifted to Osmania Hospital Morgue for post-mortem. Police booked a case against the car driver and is hunting for him with the clues found at the scene.

Kistaiah died on his wedding anniversary
Sub inspector Kistaiah who went out for a morning walk didn't know that he will not be able to come back home to celebrate his wedding anniversary. His family was devastated on hearing the news.

SI Kistaiah married Lakshmi on May 8, 1985 and the couple has a son and a daughter. His son, Raj Kiran, is pursuing Masters in the United States and his daughter is in final year B.Tech in an engineering college at Narayanaguda.
The family said Kishtaiah used to leave house everyday at 5:30 am and go for an hour-long walk.

“He was a regular morning walker and used to take the same route every day. We were prepared with celebrations for their special day. We were also excited about his retirement scheduled for 2018,” said a relative. The family was well known in the Babu Nagar area and Kistaiah had a friendly relationship with all locals and other morning walkers. His son, Raj Kiran, was shocked to learn about the unfortunate death of about his father and is rushing to India on Tuesday evening.

“He made it half way back when the speeding car hit him. We were looking forward for the day's proceedings as it was their 32nd anniversary. Little did we know that he will never be coming back from his walk this morning,” said the sub inspector’s relatives.
