Hyderabad: Case against principal for allegedly sexually abusing girl

After knowing that Naveen was at school, they barged inside and questioned him.

Hyderabad: The correspondent of a private school in Uppal was detained by the police for allegedly sexually abusing a Class VIII student. The incident which happened two days ago at the school, came to light on Saturday when the girl’s parents protested at the school. Police registered a case against Naveen Kumar.

Nomula Naveen Kumar, 27, a resident of Peerzadiguda in Medipally, was working as a correspondent at the Joshi’s Vidyaniketan School in Bharathnagar in Uppal since two years.

The girl who is 12 years old completed Class VII and has entered Class VIII. On Saturday morning the girl refused to go to school. When her parents inquired with her, they found that the correspondent was misbehaving with her by touching her inappropriately.

Her parents and neighbours came to the school and staged a protest demanding an apology from Naveen Kumar and action against him.

After knowing that Naveen was at school, they barged inside and questioned him. When he did not give them a proper response they assaulted him.

Meanwhile, the police who got information rushed to the school and pacified the parents. The cops detained Naveen Kumar. Later, the parents lodged a complaint with Uppal police and a case of outraging the modesty of a woman and under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered. As the girl belongs to a Scheduled Caste charges under the Prevention of Atrocities against SC & ST Act was also included in the case.

“We have sent both of them for medical examination and are inquiring into the incident. Based on evidence we will proceed,” Uppal inspector Y. Narsimha Reddy said. Sources said Naveen Kumar was detained for questioning.
