Lucknow: A class 11 student was set on fire by the family members of a man who had earlier tried to molest her. The incident took place late on Monday night in Aligarh district when the girl’s parents were not at home. The elder sister and younger brother of the victim were on the first floor of the house when they suddenly heard their sister crying for help.
The girl’s family members said that she was set on fire by the family members of the accused. The girl had resisted the molestation bid earlier and on the complaint of her family, the accused was arrested and sent to jail.
Police said the girl has received severe burns and is battling for life in the trauma centre. Her condition is extremely critical and because of this, the magistrate has not been able to record her statement. The police are investigating the incident and also examining if the girl attempted suicide in wake of possible threats by the man’s family.
