Hyderabad: Two persons identified as Balsuguri Chandu and Medikonda Sambha Shiva Rao, who were attempting to cheat people under the pretext of selling them a mermaid’s eye, were arrested by the Rachakonda police at Kapra.
The accused claimed that the eye has supernatural powers and that they have procured it from a holy man. They were looking for prospective buyers to sell it for Rs 2 crore.
Acting on a tip-off, police nabbed them and seized the eye from them on Thursday.
Inquiries revealed that the accused got a stone and got a small bulb fixed in it. When it is put in water, it emits light. Using this technique, they convinced people claiming that it was a mermaid’s eye.
