Alappuzha: School peon who abused student held

Alappuzha: The Mannancherry police has arrested the school peon who had sexually abused a class IX student. According to the police, the accused identified as Francis, 55, Kunnel, Katt-ur, was arrested on Thursday. He was absconding for some days since the case was registered.     

Laizad Muhammed, Sub Inspector said that the case had been registered based on the complaint of the student. The accused has been charged with the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.

 

The incident took place on January 25 evening when the school was celebrating its annual day. According to the complaint, the boy was taken to a classroom by accused and used for unnatural sex. The incident came to the light after a teacher who was in charge of Students Police Cadet questioned him after he developed doubts about the incident. Then the teacher reported to the police. The accused was produced Additional District and Sessions Court, Alappuzha and remanded to judicial custody on Friday.
