Hacking of girl: Udayamperoor police picks evidence from spot
Kochi: The Udayamperoor police on Monday took Amal (26), accused of hacking a girl the other day after she spurned his love, to the crime scene for collecting evidence. The accused earlier confessed that he had attacked the girl in an act of vengeance. “A statement of his confession has been prepared. He said he was having an affair with the girl and that she ditched him later. He attacked her on the suspicion that the victim was having another love affair,” police said. Amal further told cops that he had purchased a machette for Rs 200 a day before and waited for the girl to return from her college at a deserted lane to carry out the attack.
The incident occurred on Tuesday evening when the 20-year old girl Ambili of Edamanayil, Pathaam Mile, Udayampeeror was returning home from the DB College, Thalayolaparambu. Amal, a neighbour of the girl hacked her and later surrendered before the police. He was produced before a court which remanded him to 14 days of judicial custody. Meanwhile, the hospital authorities said the victim, admitted in the intensive care unit, is out of danger and that she is recuperating well.
