Visakhapatnam: 12 held over cockfight arrangements
Visakhapatnam: Arilova police on Monday took 12 persons into custody and produced them before the Mandal Revenue Officer for allegedly making arrangements to hold cockfights at Arilova area in Vizag city that has been banned by the court. Sources said police received information about the plans and raided the open place where the 12 members were preparing the venue for the bloody game which was supposed to commence on January 14 marking the Sankranti festival.
The cops said that a few of those arrested are henchmen of the ruling TD leaders. YSRC leader P. Murthy Yadav on Monday submitted a memorandum to city police to take act-ion against Visakha East MLA V. Ramakrishna Babu for pushing the gaming in the form of cockfights in Vizag city. The YSRC leader said the MLA and his team have made all the arra-ngements for the conduct of the bloody game during the Sankranti while the cops have turned a blind eye on the organisers of the event.
