Vembanad: Police suspects brutal murder
Kochi: The woman, whose body was found sandwiched with concrete in a plastic drum, might have been subjected to brutal murder.
According to police sources, the body was found dumped in the plastic drum 'upside down, her hands and legs twisted hard and both legs were tied up with a rope'.
"The silver waist chain, the length of few hairs and also the piece of torn cloth helped us reach the conclusion that the skeleton was that of a woman. The forensic experts too expressed doubt of her being subjected to a cold-blooded murder. However, more details could emerge only after forensic test and autopsy," the sources said.
The forensic team collected all evidences and took the remains to the Kalamassery Medical College by 2 pm on Monday.
"We've collected all remains and evidences and shifted the same to the mortuary. Initially we planned to conduct an autopsy today. However following a request from the cops for a detailed forensic test and post mortem, the process has been postponed to 9 am Tuesday," said a forensic surgeon of the Kalamassery Medical College.
The cops also suspect involvement of over one person behind the murder. "The filling of concrete mix and sandwiching the body mean over two persons are involved. The assassins also thought that the 'concrete' drum will remain under water. However, the dredging saw the drum being dumped on the banks," they said.
