Telangana: Gang stealing laptops, cash from parked cars on the run
Hyderabad: Police in Hyderabad and Cyberabad are faced with a new challenge from a gang targeting parked cars and stealing cash and laptops from them. A string of five cases were reported in the two commissionerates in the last few days.
Police said suspects are professional offenders and could be a part of the notorious Irani gang. After analysing the CCTV footage from different areas in the city, police found that the gang was picking their targets randomly. They avoided cars kept at parking lots, and targeted vehicles parked in thinly-populated locations.
“They broke the windshield glass with bare hands and didn’t use any weapon. Such offences are committed by professional gangs. We suspect the role of the Irani gang,” said a senior official of the Cyberabad police.
Last Wednesday, a laptop was stolen from a parked car at Basheerbagh. In another incident near Law College in Abids, a laptop was stolen from a parked car. While police were investigating these cases, yet another incident occurred in KPHB.
The carry bag containing the laptop stolen at Basheerbagh was found in the car targeted at KPHB the same day.
On Thursday evening, another laptop was stolen from a car parked near MNJ Cancer Hospital at Nampally. A couple of hours later, a bag with '5 lakh cash was stolen from a car parked near JNTU.
