Hyderabad: Cyberfraudsters have sought money from Siddipet district employees using mobile numbers having Siddipet police commissioner N. Swetha’s picture as the Whatsapp DP. Following this, Swetha urged people to be alert of such messages coming from the number 9934941611.
The fraudsters sent messages from the number asking for Rs.30,000 for an emergency and that it would be returned in an hour. The issue was reported to the cybercrime wing for further investigation. “Anybody receiving such requests is advised to not send any money,” she said.
Meanwhile, a senior employee of a media house fell victim to a cyberfraud and was duped of Rs.49,999. The fraudsters impersonating bank officials sent him a link on his mobile, saying it was to link his PAN card to his bank account.
The fraudsters told him his account would be deactivated if he did not do so. When he clicked on the link, he received an OTP he shared with the callers. Immediately, ' Rs.49,999 was withdrawn from his account. He then called the Panjagutta police
