Kerala gangrape: Special Investigation Team records husband's statement

The victim and her husband is learnt to have stuck to what they had disclosed at the press meet held in Thiruvanathapuram on November 3.

Thrissur: The Special Investigation Team on Monday recorded fresh statements of the victim’s husband in the alleged Wadakkanchery gang rape case. Sources close to police said that chief investigation officer ASP G. Poonguzhali, along with Alathur CI K.A. Elizabeth and a civil police officer Priya, recorded the statement in Kochi. The trio took 12 hours to record the victim’s fresh statements.
The victim and her husband is learnt to have stuck to what they had disclosed at the press meet held in Thiruvanathapuram on November 3.

The SIT will hold a discussion with ADGP B. Sandhya who is supervising the inquiry to decide on the further course of action. At the press meet, the victim and her husband had alleged that the CPM Wadakkanchery Municipality councilor P.N. Jayanthan, along with his brother and two of the husband’s friends, had gang raped her in April 2014. For the second consecutive day, SIT officers were not willing to speak to the media on the progress of investigation.
