Telangana: 2 held for threatening techie

According to the police, they were demanding money from him acting as party workers.

Hyderabad: The Central Zone Task Force team apprehended two men for threatening a software employee over the phone in Saidabad on Saturday.

According to the police, they were demanding money from him acting as party workers. Officials seized a bike and three cellphones from their possession.

The arrested were identified as Kokkiligadda Venkateswara Rao alias Venkateshwar, 51, a party worker of Unity Centre of Communist Revolutionaries of India (Marxist Leninist) (UCCRIML), resident of Chaitanyapuri Colony, and Thatikonda Naveen Reddy, 23, a BTech student of Dhruva Institute of Engineering and Technology in Toopranpet and a resident of Dilsukhnagar.

The arrests were made on Saturday following a complaint from one Aditya Reddy, a techie from Saidabad Colony wherein he stated that on Saturday, the duo came on a bike to his house as party workers of UCCRIML and met his father in his absence and threatened him before leaving. He then called him over the phone and threatened him with dire consequences and demanded an amount that would be party work and said that he should meet their demands immediately, failing which he will be killed.

“Based on the complaint, a case was registered under relevant Sections of IPC at Saidabad Police Station and considering the seriousness and sensitivity of the issue, the Central Zone Task Force team apprehended the duo on Saturday,” said the DCP, Commissioner’s Task Force, Mr P. Radhakrishna Rao.

Both the accused, along with seized cellphones and a list of persons, businessmen and builders whom they planned to threaten along wth their phone numbers and addresses were handed over Saidabad police for taking further action.
