Hyderabad: Man cheats with fake demand drafts, held
Hyderabad: The Narayanaguda police arrested an inter state offender for cheating shop owners by issuing fake demand drafts while purchasing electronic gadgets, liquor bottles, flight tickets, etc and recovered five mobiles and three laptops from him.
The accused was identified as Sarwar Ali, 28, a website designer and photographer from Mumbai.
He was arrested based on a complaint from Madan Gopal Vyas, managing director of Byas Foto Retail, who stated that he was cheated with a forged bank demand draft by the accused.
The Narayanaguda police apprehended Sarwar Ali on Saturday. “He is a habitual offender and has committed similar offences across India,” said G. Ram Babu, Narayanaguda inspector.
“He met a friend, Abhijit Sarkar, in Mumbai and they hatched a plan to cheat people and earn quick money by using their expertise in computer technology,” added Mr Babu. Abhijit Sarkar is still at large.
