Body found tied to express train in Andhra Pradesh

A vigilant railway official found the body and immediately informed the Yerraguntla railway police.

Kurnool: When the Mumbai-Chennai Express reached Kondapuram railway station in Kadapa district at 8.15 pm on Thursday, a body was found tied to a bogie with legs missing as the train had dragged it for more than 50 kilometers from Tadipatri railway station.

A vigilant railway official found the body and immediately informed the Yerraguntla railway police. The train was detained at the station for more than an hour to retrieve the body and take it to the Yerraguntla hospital.

The way the body was found tied to the bogie gave an impression that it was done deliberately, police said. Yerraguntla railway police identified the deceased as Dadawalli, 22, a medical assistant and resident of Tadipatri.

Dadawalli was not of sound mind and was suicide prone, police said. His father works as a driver while his mother rolls beedis for a living.

The manner in which the body was found hooked to the bogie raised doubts as in a case of suicide the body would be run over and body parts strewn around the tracks, police said.

A police officer who had conducted many inquests of bodies found on railway track said that it was quite unusual to find a body in this manner.
