Tamil Nadu: Murdered corpse found in cemetery

Chennai: Police on Wednesday recovered the body of a middle -aged man from a cemetery on Ponniamman Koil street near Hastinapuram. Unable to ascertain the identity of the victim, police moved his body to the government hospital mortuary. Meanwhile, on Thursday, a woman identifying herself as Gowri called the Chitlapakkam police station and told the personnel that her husband Ruban Babu (35) and his friends had murdered their friend in their residence. The woman was separated from her husband and was living with her parents. She informed the police after her husband called her and told about the sequence of events and asked her not to come home for a few days. Alarmed, the woman informed the police, sources said.

Meanwhile, when police rushed to the address, they found blood stains in the rooms. A driving licence was recovered from the floor, belonging to Yakath Ali (32), a criminal who has two murder cases against him. However, police confirmed that the body is not that of him. Meanwhile, the body was identified to be that of Gopi, an auto driver who also had criminal cases against him.

Police suspect that a drunken brawl to have led to the murder and the body dumped in the graveyard.

Chitilapakkam police registered a case and have launched a hunt for suspects Ruban Babu and Yakath Ali.
