Telangana: Speeding car mows down two-year-old
Hyderabad: A 2-year-old child was mowed down by a speeding car on Monday in Saidabad. The child, Chaitra, was the younger daughter of provision shop owner Raju. Chaitra has an elder sister aged 7. “The family has a provision shop. At around 8:30 am, while the parents were in their shop and the child was playing in front of it a car hit her, killing her on the spot and sped away,” said inspector K. Sattaiah of Saidabad. “We are checking CCTV cameras nearby to identify the car,” added the inspector.
Based on a complaint from Mr Raju, Saidabad police booked a case under Section 304A and launched an investigation. The 60-year-old grandmother of Chaitra saw her granddaughter being mowed down by the car. “We could not see the driver. I was there and could not do anything,” said the woman. “My granddaughter rolled over on the road. I carried her up and she was bleeding from her ear,” said the grandmother pointing at her blood stained clothes. “The family rushed the girl to hospital where doctors declared her dead,” said inspector K. Sattaiah.
