Punnapra sub-inspector who made minor drink liquor at large
ALAPPUZHA: An additional sub-inspector of police of Punnapra, who was framed under the Juvenile Justice Act after he abducted and made a minor girl drink liquor here on Thursday night, is still absconding. The case was registered against P.S. Sam Mon, 54, on the basis of a complaint by the minor girl. Mr K.N. Rajesh, Circle Inspector, Alappuzha south, said that the hunt for the cop was going on.
As per the complaint, the cop took the minor to his house on a bike and made her drink alcohol on the night of August 4. The local people caught the ASI red-handed from his house and assaulted him. The fellow policemen, who were alerted, came to the spot and took him to the medical college hospital here. The police have collected the evidence substantiating the complaint.
“Initially, the ASI told the police that he was assaulted by the moral police. On the basis of his statement, four local people were taken into custody on Friday. But the minor along with her grandmother came to the Punnapara police station at 10 p.m. on Friday and registered a case. The ASI, who was under treatment, fled from the hospital to avoid arrest,” the CI said. The investigation report seeking departmental action has been sent to the district police chief.
