Malkajgiri police reach just in time

Later, Grace was seen in a video thanking the police and asking for justice.

Hyderabad: Prompt response by the Malkajgiri police patrol saved the life of a woman, who was attempting suicide by hanging at her house on Saturday. Later, following a complaint from the woman, police registered a case against her husband, who works as a railway ticket examiner on the charge of domestic violence.

At about 1 pm, the police received a call on Dial 100 from a resident of Jyothinagar in Malkajgiri that their neighbour, Sakedi Grace, 29, had gone inside a room and shut the door and they suspect she may commit suicide.

A patrol team of head constable A. Narsimulu and special police officer (driver) P. Ramu rushed to the house. With the help of neighbours, they broke open the door and rescued the woman. She was taken to a hospital and is stated to be safe.

Inspector A. Manmo-han said: “Grace was seen with a cloth tied to her neck and was just about to kick the stool.”

Later, Grace was seen in a video thanking the police and asking for justice. She told the police that her husband M.S. Madhu Babu was harassing her and her daughter. The child was in the house when the incident took place but was in another room.

A case has been registered against her husband under IPC Section 498A. The inspector said that Grace would be counselled.

The two policemen were congratulated by Rachakonda police commissioner Mahesh Bhagwat.
