Hyderabad: Gold, silver found in bank lockers

ACB sleuths are investigating how Kumar amassed the wealth.

Hyderabad: ACB sleuths seized 3.6 kg gold and 4 kg silver from the three lockers owned by accused Irrigation and CAD Chief Engineer K. Suresh Kumar.

The government officer was booked and arrested by the ACB on July 6, in a disproportionate assets case. The ACB carried out searches on Friday and unearthed unmovable properties in Hyderabad and Karimnagar.

On day two of the searches, three bank lockers Punjab National Bank and two City Union Bank Karimnagar were opened.

Gold and silver ornaments worth Rs 72 lakh was seized. Kumar was the head for the engineering wing of the state government’s irrigation and command area development department and was in-charge of accepting tenders for various development works.

ACB sleuths are investigating the means by which Kumar amassed the disproportionate wealth. Sources revealed that Kumar had demanded and accepted favours in return of official sanctions.
