Telangana: Cops rescue woman from car after chase
Hyderabad: An SOS “attempting to rape me, save me” to Rachakonda police on Thursday midnight kept them on their toes for about two hours. Police traced the mobile to Ghatkesar area, but later found the person was moving towards Uppal and then Tarnaka. Rachakonda police alerted Hyderabad police, who intercepted the car she was travelling in at Habsiguda, rescued the woman and handed her over to Ghatkesar police.
Police on inquiry found that while travelling in the car, her paramour assaulted her physically and to protect herself, she sent the SOS that she was being raped. A case was registered against the suspect Srikanth who was arrested.
The woman, a divorcee, was in relation with Srikanth who is into timber business. On Thursday, she went to Kazipet without informing him. Srikanth searched for her near their house, but later came to know about her trip and started for Kazipet in a hired cab. While returning, an argument broke out between the woman and Srikanth who assaulted her in the cab.
Later, when they reached Ghatkesar, the vehicle was stopped for the men to relieve themselves. Finding an opportunity, the woman searched for police contact numbers in Google, found a mobile number and sent a text message that reached an inspector in Cyberabad. He forwarded the same with the contact number to Ghatkesar inspector.
Ghatkesar inspector B. Prakash reached the highway to rescue the woman but found that the vehicle was moving towards Boduppal. The vehicle then headed towards Medipally, Uppal and Tarnaka.
“We alerted the control room. The message was passed on to Hyderabad police and then to the Osmania University police station,” the inspector said Teams from Osmania University police station intercepted the vehicle and rescued the woman and along with the suspects and handed over them to Ghatkesar police.
Assault claims
- The woman was assaulted by her paramour while they were travelling and she sent an SOS that she was being raped in order to protect herself from him.
- Ghatkesar inspector reached the highway but found the vehicle moving towards Boduppal so the Hyderabad police was alerted.
