Hyderabad: Thieves gag 60-year-old, take Rs 30 lakh, gold
Hyderabad: Thieves attacked a 58-year-old woman in Medipally. Police said that two men entered the house of P. Balamani, gagged and tied her to a chair and fled with around 8 tola gold jewellery and Rs 30 lakh.
Police said 58-year-old P. Balamani and her only son P. Chandrashekar Reddy, a 38-year-old realtor, are staying in Saraswathi Nagar in Boduppal. A few days ago Chandrashekar brought home Rs 30 lakh which he got after selling a piece of land. He kept it in the almirah. Last Saturday, he went to Kakinada to meet his friends, leaving his mother alone at home and was expected to return by Wednesday.
On Tuesday morning after breakfast, when she went to lock the gate two strangers forcibly entered and walked into the house. “One of them gagged her and the other tied her hands to the chair with plaster. They threatened and grabbed the keys of the almirah,” detective SI N. Naveen Babu said. Later, they took 15 tola gold and the Rs 30 lakh. The victims suspect that Chandrashekar’s friends who knew about the cash are behind the robbery.
A case of robbery was registered. The police is questioning suspects.
