Vijayawada: A teenager was allegedly killed by her mother for being in love with a boy from another religion late on Wednesday night in ‘C’ Block apartments of Vambay Colony near Vijayawada’s Singh Nagar. Payakapuram police said Sajma, 16, the second daughter of Bibi Jaan, fell in love with a boy identified as Deepak.

Fearing for her family’s reputation, Biji Jaan tried to persuade Sajma to put an end of the affair. She even shifted her family, including her husband Mysoor Jaan, a painter, and another daughter, to Narasaraopet in Guntur district.
However, Sajma didn’t relent and the family returned to Vijayawada. Later, Sajma continued her relationship with Deepak.

According to the police, on Wednesday night Bibi Jaan sent her husband out of the house and strangled Sajma. When her husband returned home, Bibi Jaan claimed she had died of stomach ache. The funeral was planned at Kanchika-cherla in Krishna district, and the body was taken in an autorickshaw.

The murder came to light when the driver on his way back stopped the vehicle in Jujjur, some distance from Kanchikacharla, washed theautorickshaw and lighted incence sticks..

When locals asked him, he said he had transported the dead body of a girl. Deepak came to know that Sajma was missing, and started his own inquiries.
It was learnt that Bibi Jaan had been to her relatives’ house in Moghal-rajpuram in Vijayawada in the same autorickshaw but they had refused to help.

Bibi Jaan was arrested in Vijayawada. The police recovered the body of Sajma at Jujjur and sent it to post mortem. Police said she and her husband justified the murder.
