Live-in partner kills Hyderabad woman in Bengaluru

Hyderabad: A 23-year-old woman from Hyderabad was allegedly smothered to death by her 27-year-old live-in partner at her apartment in Bengaluru.

Bengaluru city DCP, Dr Bheemashankar S. Guled told Deccan Chronicle that the victim who was identified as Akanksha Vidyasagar was a native of Hyderabad.

The incident occurred in the early hours of June 6. “Akansha’s live-in partner Gurijala Arpit smothered her to death using a pillow and fled the scene,” Bheemashankar said.

Akansha and Arpit earlier worked with BYJU’S in Delhi and were in live-in relation for the past 10 months. In April this year, they joined another firm and shifted to Bengaluru and were staying in the same apartment. Due to differences between them, they decided to get separated, police sources said.

“Akanksha and Arpit had come to Bengaluru recently from Delhi. During our investigation, we found that they were living together in a rented house in Kodihalli and recently due to differences between them they decided to get separated,” police said. Police suspect Arpit was against the victim’s decision to get separated. He wanted to continue the relationship and tried to pacify but when Akansha refused his proposal, he might have murdered her.

Bengaluru police have informed the victim’s parents in Hyderabad and formed special teams to nab Arpit who is absconding. Teams have left for Delhi and are coordinating with the police of other states.

After the post-mortem, victim’s body was handed over to her parents. A murder case has been registered.
