Hyderabad: A woman from Kushaiguda who killed her husband to facilitate the continued pursuit of her extra-marital affair with another man was convicted on Friday. The court sentenced her to life imprisonment and also directed her to pay Rs 500 towards the penalty.

Kushaiguda police in 2016 had registered a case against B Ganga, 28, and B. Srinivas, for allegedly killing Ganga’s husband B. Raju, 33, a native of Masanpally village, Mothkur mandal, Mahabubnagar district.

Ganga and Raju, both daily wage workers, had been living together in Suryanagar, Kapra. The couple was blessed with five children, however, only one boy survived as the other four succumbed to illnesses.

Ganga reportedly developed her extra-marital affair with Srinivas at work. Soon after, however, Raju found out and warned Srinivas against meeting Ganga again. Subsequently, Ganga and Srinivas choked Raju to death using a piece of cloth.

A case of murder was registered at Kushaiguda police station for the probe after which, the accused duo was arrested. Rachakonda police said that the case was charge-sheeted by the then Kushaiguda police inspector N. Venkat Ramana before the Sixteenth Additional District Judge Court in Malkajgiri.

“The court convicted Ganga for murdering her husband and directed her to undergo life imprisonment and to pay Rs 500 towards the penalty. Srinivas, however, was acquitted by the court,” the police said.
