Bengaluru: Man held for killing paramour

Sunitha was in an illicit relationship with David for the past five years.

Bengaluru: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) sleuths have cracked a sensational murder of a woman, who was taken to Sakleshpur ghats in Hassan district and killed by her paramour.

The murder took place on May 12 and CCB took over the case from K.G. Halli police, after the sister of the deceased, who is a home guard, expressed her disappointment over slow pace of investigation.

The deceased, Sunitha (25), left her house along with her seven-month-old son and had told her mother that she was going to attend a funeral of her husband’s relative in Tamil Nadu.

The next day, the accused, David Kumar (28), visited Sunitha’s mother and handed over Sunitha's child. He told her that Sunitha had a fight with him and left in a bus after abandoning the baby.

Sunitha's mother the lodged a missing complaint with K.G. Halli police. The CCB sleuths detained David for questioning and eventually he confessed to killing Sunitha after she threatened to reveal their relationship to David's wife.

Case background

Sunitha was in an illicit relationship with David for the past five years. She got upset with him after he got married two years ago. About eight months ago, Sunitha told David that she was pregnant with his child and demanded a separate house for her.

She also threatened to reveal their relationship to his wife saying she had their photographs. Fed up with repeated threats, David hatched a plan along with his friend Srinivas, alias Seena, to get rid of her.

On May 12 David called up Sunitha and asked her to meet him near Silk Board. When she went there he was waiting in a car. David asked her to get into the car and took her to Sakleshpur in Hassan district. There he fatally strangulated her and threw the body in the ghats. He brought Sunitha's son along and handed him over to his grandmother.

On May 13, Sakleshpur police came across a body and circulated the picture to nearby districts, as her identity was not ascertained. When the CCB began the Investigation, they came across Sunitha’s picture and summoned David. During questioning he confessed to the crime.

David was handed over to Sakleshpur police under whose jurisdiction the crime took place.
