Anekal Taluk police have registered a case and begun investigation.

BENGALURU: Panic gripped at a school in Anekal taluk in Sarjapur on Thursday morning, when a 13-year-old girl student was found dead under mysterious circumstances in the school hostel. The deceased is the daughter of a flower vendor and a resident of Anekal taluk. She was studying in the eighth standard of Indus Global School.

Bengaluru Rural police Superintendent Bheemashankar said the incident took place in around 6.30 am. “She was suffering from brain tumour which burst last night. Her mother was not aware about the tumour. She died due to internal bleeding,” he added. Bheemashankar further said the incident came to light when the school management made a call to the police. A team visited the hostel and shifted the minor to hospital where doctors conducted a post mortem and confirmed that she died due to the hemorrhage.

“Her mother was informed who then visited the hospital and later in the noon the body was handed over to her,” he added. The girl had got admission under the school’s special scheme to provide education to children from economically weaker sections. The incident sparked rumours that the minor girl was raped and murdered by a school staff. When asked, the senior police officer refuted such rumours and ruled out any foul play.
