Perumbavoor rape case: SIT takes man into custody in Jisha case
Kochi: The special investigation team probing the Jisha murder case has reportedly taken into custody an individual from Neriamnagalam for questioning.
The officials declined to confirm or deny such a development. Sources said the individual was picked up on the basis of the investigation team getting information about the chances of Jisha undertaking a journey to Kothamangalam in the morning of April 28.
She was found dead in her house at Kurppumpady near Perumbavoor on the same day night. Sources said some staff members of a private informed the probe team about the possibility of Jisha making the trip. The Dalit-Adivasi Human Rights Protection Committee formed by a slew of activist groups plan to launch an indefinite strike before the secretariat from June 27.
The committee also plans to submit a memorandum to the government raising several issues connected with the faults in investigation on cases connected with atrocities against dalits and adivasis.
Jisha’s father seeks a fairer probe
Paappu, father of Jisha who was found dead at Perumbavoor, has petitioned the state police chief seeking a probe into alleged attempts to derail the probe. He later told reporters that though he suspected the role of some prominent persons in the murder, he did not have any evidence to name anyone.
He also said that he did not lodge any petition against activist Joemon Puthenpurackal, who had earlier raised allegations linking UDF convener P.P. Thankachan with the murder.
