Manhunt on for phone thieves in hyderabad

The police gathered CCTV footages from the shop and have started efforts to identify the gang.

Hyderabad: The police has launched a manhunt for a gang of seven burglars, who burgled a mobile phone shop in Secunderabad early on Monday.

The gang stole 42 IPhones and other valuables worth Rs 26 lakh and Rs 52,000. The police gathered CCTV footages from the shop and have started efforts to identify the gang. “We have strong evidence against the accused and will arrest them soon,” said north zone DCP B. Sumathi.

On Monday, at around 4 am, seven persons with masked faces broke into the Apex mobile phone store. After checking CCTV footage, the police found the thieves had conducted survey. “They were seven persons. Five persons covered the CCTV installed at the entrance with a blanket while two broke open the shutter and entered the shop,” said DCP Sumathi.

"They were masked but we could identify them. We think they have come from other states. Three teams are on the job to apprehend the gang,” said the DCP.
