The Jubilee Hills police took three persons including the home guard into custody.

Hyderabad: Two journalists and a Home Guard jawan allegedly kidnapped a businessman from his house at Jubilee Hills and extorted money from him.

The victim, Srinivasa Rao, however escaped from the custody of the abductors, who also demanded an additional Rs 2 lakh from him as ransom. The Jubilee Hills police took three persons including the home guard into custody.

Home guard Jagadeeswar Reddy, who was working with the CID here and the journalist Jameel, who earlier worked with a Telugu news channel, allegedly carried out the abduction.

Another journalist involved in the crime has not been identified by the cops yet.
Srinivas Rao said the gang extorted Rs 13,000 from him on May 31. Seven persons went to his house at Sri Krishna Nagar and said they were cops and journalists.

They told him that there were allegations against him about immoral trafficking, and then conducted a raid on his house. They got Rs 10,000 from the house.
The men then took the businessman in a car to an isolated place at Balagar and locked him in a house. They demanded Rs 2 lakh as ransom.

“When the gang left the place, the victim escaped from the house by opening one of the doors as it was not properly locked,” said a police officer from Jubilee Hills. The police has booked a case.
